A etnomatemática e a agricultura familiar: a matemática presente na plantação de hortaliças

Abstract

The present work analyzes the importance of the farmers' mathematical knowledge for education. Through the research we seek to answer the following question: What are the mathematical knowledges present in vegetable planting? Through this questioning, the objective of this research was to analyze how the farmers of the Quilombola Community of Curralinho, located in Amapá, do the calculations during their work practice. The subjects of the research are small farmers who live in the community, who are part of the family farming and sell their products, especially vegetables, in the fairs of Macapá-AP. For the execution of the research was adopted the field research to report the information observed and answered by the farmers in the place where they are inserted. In general, the study showed that mathematics goes beyond the classroom, it is present in the daily lives of various social groups. Keywords: ethnomathematics; agriculture; curralinho.
