Corpus esfacelado: as marcas da violência contra a mulher em Mulheres empilhadas, de Patrícia Melo

Abstract

The aim of this work was to analyze the representation and marks of violence against women in the internal plan of Mulheres empilhadas, by Patrícia Melo, based on the theoreticalmethodological assumptions formulated by Antonio Candido (2023), for whom the social must be seen as a constituent element of the internal architecture of the work, and is evident in both the thematic content and the compositional plan. Predominantly interpretative and with a sociological slant, the research is qualitative and bibliographical in nature. As it deals with a complex subject, sources from different areas were used as theoretical support: Lage and Nader (2023), Brasil (2006), OMS (2015), Pereira (2005), Pezzini (2023), Praxedes (2020), among others. The research led to the conclusion that the fragmented structure of the novel, combined with the meanings conveyed by the plot, can be read as a representation of the emotional shattering and the fissures or marks produced on female bodies victimized by violence, and also as the representation of a cycle that repeats itself endlessly if it is not broken. However, because it is the story and testimony of a survivor, shared with the general public, it also points to the possibility of overcoming death and starting over for herself and for all women.
