Educação antirracista e letramento racial crítico: o papel da literatura infantojuvenil.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze how children and youth literature can contribute to the promotion of anti-racist education and the development of critical racial literacy at school. A qualitative approach was adopted, based on a literature review and a careful selection of scientific articles related to the topic. The results highlight the theoretical contributions of authors such as Bell Hooks, Paulo Freire, Aparecida de Jesus and other authors who reinforce the main line of thought, showing that children's literature plays a fundamental role in the construction of identity and the deconstruction of prejudices. When children and adolescents recognize in stories and characters that reflect their realities, they develop a greater sense of belonging and critical awareness. Narratives that address social, political and historical issues encourage critical thinking, challenging common sense and promoting deep reflections on ethnic-racial relations. Thus, children and youth literature is an important tool for stimulating debate and reflection in the school environment, contributing to more inclusive and conscious pedagogical practices.
