Etnomatemática e Geogebra: um elo na identificação dos elementos matemáticos na confecção do instrumento "caixa" na Cultura do Marabaixo

Abstract

The study is grounded in ethnomathematics, and the importance of ethnomathematics lies in valuing and respecting mathematical knowledge present in cultures, recognizing and understanding the cycle of generation, diffusion, social organization, and intellectual aspects of these knowledges. It also involves exploring how these understandings are disseminated in various contexts. The present study aimed to identify mathematical elements in the construction of the "caixa" instrument in Marabaixo culture using the GeoGebra software. It had specific objectives to analyze and observe mathematical elements in the manufacturing process, analyzing their relationships with cultural aspects. The participants in this research were two artisans, one from Mazagão Velho and the other from the Quilombo do Curiaú, both involved in the crafting of the "caixa" instrument in the Marabaixo tradition. The selection of these participants was strategically done due to the importance of understanding the construction technique of the "caixas" from Mazagão Velho and Curiaú, both considered cradles of the Marabaixo tradition. The research adopted a qualitative approach, bibliographic methods, and field research with semi-structured interviews. The study highlights the importance of Ethnomathematics in strengthening cultural identity and promoting inclusive education by integrating traditional knowledge and local cultural practices. The choice of recycled materials reflects the artisans' lived experiences while also fostering interdisciplinary connections between mathematics, sustainability, and culture. The GeoGebra is essential for visualizing mathematical elements. The integration of Ethnomathematics, GeoGebra, and the construction of the "caixa" enriches the teaching of mathematics and values the local culture.
