O berço de novas descobertas medicinais na Amazônia: o uso de plantas medicinais durante a pandemia do covid-19 por comunidades tradicionais da Amazônia

Abstract

This study presents a bibliographic survey based on the possibility of investigating the use of medicinal plants by Amazonian communities during the covid-19 pandemic. Based on articles selected from the SCIELO, PubMed and Google Scholar databases, we sought to identify plants used, analyze the role of traditional knowledge in the choice and application of these plants, and evaluate the community's perception of their efficacy and safety. The qualitative research addressed the question: Which medicinal plants were used by Amazonian communities as a resource for prevention and alternative treatment of covid-19?. The results highlight the relevance of traditional knowledge, driven by the initial shortage of vaccines and specific treatments, evidencing the importance of phytotherapeutic practices in the management of public health emergencies.
